Please view the list below of the most common problems our patients encounter. You may be able to resolve the immediate problem now, and have us permanently resolve it at a later time. If you are unable to resolve the problem you may call 425-641-3451. We reserve a limited amount of time each day for emergency patients. If you have a problem requiring urgent treatment, please call us as early as possible in the day.
Common Orthodontic Emergencies
A broken bracket should be re-attached soon after breakage, but may be delayed for several days depending on the situation. Please call
the office to describe the situation and to schedule an emergency morning appointment to have it fixed.
A poking wire or appliance can be temporarily treated by placing a small piece of wax on the part that pokes. If you cannot find the wax
that we initially gave you it can be purchased in most drug stores. If a wire is sticking out and catching your cheek, try to tuck the offending wire end in with a pencil eraser. Avoid clipping or cutting things with wire clippers or fingernail clippers unless you first speak to someone at Dr. Nordberg's office.
If you are unsuccessful in relieving the problem, call 425-641-3451 to speak to a staff member who can help you.
If you have a lost or broken retainer we should replace it as soon as possible so that your teeth do not move. Please call the office during working hours to schedule an appointment to get a new retainer.
If you have a loose or broken Herbst you may be able to tie the broken side to the upper or lower archwire with a thread or string.
This will make it comfortable until we can fix it, and you should call the office for an appointment as soon as possible. If you cannot secure it so
that it is comfortable please call 425-641-3451 to speak with a staff member.
