Financial & Insurance

Cost

Treatment cost varies depending on the complexity of the problem. Fees and payment options will be discussed prior to beginning treatment. We offer a variety of payment options to suit different budgets, including a no-down payment option. For your convenience, we accept assignment from most insurance companies and file claims for you. We work hard to make orthodontic treatment affordable for all of our patients.

Fees

In an effort to provide our patients with affordable orthodontics, while preserving the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy:

  • If full payment is made at the onset of treatment, we will offer a fee discount. (If you have insurance, we will offer a discount for payment of your portion of the fee that will not be covered by insurance.)
  • To fit your individual needs, financial arrangements can be made to extend your payments over a period of months.
  • For your convenience, we accept payment by VISA and MASTERCARD.
  • In cases of serious delinquency, treatment may be modified or discontinued, although we will make every effort to accommodate patients with temporary difficulties.

Insurance

If your insurance covers orthodontic treatment, you will receive the benefit of reduced personal costs. Many insurance policies have a lifetime orthodontic benefit that is distinct from regular dental insurance. Remember that insurance policies vary, and we will review your insurance to determine the appropriate course of action. Once treatment has started, we will file your claims.

To help us with your insurance filing, please complete the insurance questions on our questionnaire.

Please remember that orthodontic insurance is a benefit for you or your child. If, during the course of treatment, your benefits change, the financially responsible party is accountable for all charges.

We will be glad to work with you and your insurance company to ensure you receive the maximum benefit available. We encourage you to contact your insurance company or Human Resources Department to learn about your benefits prior to treatment. To assist us both in this endeavor, we have established the following answers to the most commonly asked questions.

How does orthodontic insurance work?

Insurance policies vary between insurance carriers and subscribers, providing each person with different benefits. Generally, orthodontic insurance differs from regular medical insurance, rarely covering the full cost of orthodontic treatment. Normally, there is a lifetime maximum benefit for orthodontics per person covered on the insurance policy. It is important to remember that our primary financial relationship is with our patients and their families. In the end, you are responsible for any uncovered portion of treatment.

How will our office assist you with your insurance?

Our financial team will provide your insurance company with a description of the orthodontic problem, the required treatment, the estimated length of treatment time and the financial arrangements. In return, your insurance provider will provide us with the benefit amount and method of payment. Once treatment has started, we will submit claims for you.

How can you maximize your benefit?

Contact your insurance provider to learn the details of your coverage. By asking the following questions, you should thoroughly understand your coverage:

  • How often does it pay
  • What is the lifetime maximum age limitation
  • Will payment start immediately after treatment begins or is there a waiting period
  • Be sure to get the name of the person you spoke with

Once treatment begins, we will also contact your insurance company asking the same questions. If our information agrees, we can depend on it! Please be sure to let us know if your policy changes during treatment, as the benefits will also change, possibly affecting your out-of-pocket costs. We promise to help you receive the maximum benefit entitled to you.
